Geographical distribution: Southern Europe, North Africa.

Habitats : Everywhere

Size : queen: 8-10 mm - worker: 3-5 mm

Color : Black

Queen lifespan: up to 20 years

Colony size: from 8000 to 10000 individuals

Food : Principally sweet liquids, jellies... but needs proteins too with  fruit flies, little parts of crickets or cockroaches, etc.

Humidity :  The nest don't need very much humidity. They likes wooden nests. But you must provide water in the hunting area

Temperature :  20° – 29° C

Hibernation: No, but it is recommended to reduce the temperature slightly for 2 to 3 months.
